2010: The lesson of Just Doin’ It

Tiny Tee's Big Small World

2010 was a great year for Tiny Tee’s Big Small World in that it was something new for me. Thank You for joining me on this journey of celebrating good music, great fashion and artistic folks all over the Bay Area. I’ve been granted the privilege of meeting amazing people in the media industry and listening to great wisdom. I’ve interviewed many people and joined the Oaklandlocal movement.

Tiny Tee’s Big Small World began as an idea –sparked by the brains that are my Mills sisters. I gave the idea of it( blog) some serious thought especially since I visited blogs almost daily ( still do!) The name of this blog was a nickname given to me (during a game) by my Mills sister, Jabrilla Carr and it just stuck. This blog began as a way for me to share my views of hip-hop culture in the Bay Area as well as r&b and evolved to include fashion. I believe this blog is important because there aren’t many African American female voices talking about hip-hop, R&B or fashion in the media. This blog has a mission and in 2011, the mission will become more clear to readers.

In 2010, I learned an important lesson. If you want something, JUST DO IT ! I would always tell peoplethat I wanted to pursue entertainment, become a media personality. If I want that, I must start now ! So for YOU, if you want something don’t continue to tell yourself you have to wait until after college or etc. Do it NOW ! Why ? Because tomorrow isn’t promised.

Throughout 2010, Tiny Tee’s Big Small World has featured HeadBanger Accessories, Aris JeromeMistah Fab, Tha Teknitionz, Jeffrey Bryant, Erk Tha Jerk, London, Netta Brielle, Nio tha Gift, Terrance Banks,The Pack’s Young L, Siaira Shawn, A.E., Paris the Vixen, Naomi Pretty, Tameka Raymond, Keyshia Cole, Mills students,UC Berkeley students, The Cataracs, DEV, NHT Boyz, Bobby Brackins and so many more.
Whew ! To say 2010 was busy —would be an understatement.

Tiny Tee's Big

Would I have guessed the success of the blog and how many of you would actually read it ? No, I didn’t expect many people would read it. I didn’t expect that artist would be willing to talk to a college student about their experiences. I was pleasantly surprised. Tiny Tee’s Big Small World has given me the opportunity to meet amazing people, intern/work at Oaklandlocal, gain recognition from the Bay Area Black Journalist Association and meet one of my role -models Niema Jordan .

Above all, I want to thank you for your support. Let’s toast to a new year, new decade, new era, new opportunities, new inspiration and new love. As for this blog, 2011 will continue to cover music, fashion, inspiration and social justice movements within communities of color as well as women. I want to take this blog further than the surface —ready to add more depth.

Are you ready for 2011 ?

    • @NiemaJordan Thanks so much for your support. It really means alot to me. I’m excited for blogging this year too ! I hope it does pop off so that I can let the world know that style transcends designer labels, regions and social status !

    • @Adrienne I’m so glad that you were connected through Oakland Local and decided to check out the blog. Hopefully, this year will bring more posts on fashion, style and lots of video interviews with folks about their style. Thanks for checking out the blog.
