Actor Lance Gross has lunch date with Hip-Hop princess

LANCE GROSS — Oakland native was spotted having lunch with Hip-Hop princess Angela Simmons.

Gross, most known for his re-occuring role as “Calvin” on the television show House of Payne was caught having a lunch date this past  week. His date was Angela Simmons, daughter of Run DMC front man Joesph ” Rev Run” Simmons.

Essence celebrates Black Women in Hollywood

Can Black Women in Hollywood gather together without any drama ?

Of course, as proven by the ESSENCE hosted 4th annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon.

The luncheon was amazing becuase it had some of Hollywood’s most fabulous women like Entreprenuer Kimora Lee Simmons, Actress Angela Bassett, Serena Williams, Actress Lauren London, Forest Whitaker, Gabrielle Union, Songbird Brandy and so many more.

The event was a great example of how many women of color are creating and building successful careers within an industry that is challenging. Also, the event continues to prove that black women are so beautiful and amazing !

New Female Artist sheds stereotypes

Natural locks, a nose peircing, leopard glasses and a jean jacket is how she is in  her New York YouTube video. A breath of fresh air in an industry wear every singer has long blond locks and plastic surgery enhancements. She stands out.

Jennah Bell, a 22-year -old singer from Oakland is shedding stereotypes with every chord she hits on her guitar. The Berklee School of Music student has a great voice and isn’t bad on guitar.

You were trying to find a baller at NBA All Star weekend?  You should’ve been networking, building sisterhood and empowering yourself to thrive in this sexist society.

Well, I met some powerful women of color who are invested in changing their communities and proving to the world that shadeism ( hierarchy of lighter skin being better than darker skin) is a divisive tool of oppression.  I gained so many lessons of self-love, risk-taking and thinking outside of the box from activists like Angela Davis, Dlycia Pagen and Ericka Huggins.
