Oscar Grant : The Verdict Day in Oakland

There were many arrests that day of the verdict. Too bad the majority of the protesters were not from Oakland.

I was in downtown Oakland the day that the verdict of involuntary manslaughter was given to Johannes Mesherle. I witnessed the reactions of anger, fear, hopelessness and some bizarre attitudes towards the verdict…..

The mainstream media focused so much on the riots that happened mostly by a few troublemakers than the peaceful protest. I completely agree with Casie who wrote to defend our great city of Oakland to Necole Bitchie. Necole Bitchie wrote about Oscar Grant. I applaud her to standing up for Oakland and letting people know that this is an injustice issue instead of a Oakland is terrible issue. The media didn’t focus on the Oakland wide community clean that many volunteers did the next few days or the many cites that residents could go an vent.

I appreciate Natasha from Young, Black and Fabulous posting on the Oscar Grant verdict as well.

Oakland Local had great coverage on the day of the verdict.
